Wayne Rooney admitted defeat Italy on penalties in the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 was 'horrible way to withdraw from the tournament'.

"This is a horrible way to go. We all feel angry," said the Manchester United striker.
Rooney claimed the game against Gli Azzurri's tough and they've worked hard for 120 minutes. "So losing on penalties to give a feeling horrible for everyone," he added.
However, Rooney feels they can still go home with heads erect and draw lessons from it. "There are a lot of young players in this squad and this will help them for the following tournament," he concluded.
